Ginger Ann Wadley-Hammond was born on April 1st, 1938 in Chouteau, OK, the daughter of Samuel Loy and Opal Ethel (Dunlap) Wadley. She grew up with her brother, Willis, attended school in Pryor, and graduated from Pryor High School in 1956. She began working at the phone company in Tulsa, serving as a switchboard operator. While there, she met and married her best friend, Darold Hammond in Tulsa in 1957. This union was blessed with two sons, Ron and Don, and 40 years of happy memories. Ginger worked as a bookkeeper for a car dealership. When she wasn't working, she was running her household, fixing meals, and running after three men in her life. She was a woman who knew what she wanted from life, and was head strong, with a stubborn streak. She enjoyed keeping up with her granddaughters Alicia and Kirsten, and with all of their activities. She was so very proud of her family. Her husband passed from this life in 1997, and Ginger remained in her home in Tahlequah. Her health began to fail her and Ginger was not able to work outside the home. That never stopped Ginger from keeping up with her families daily coming and goings. She still liked to keep house and was always happy to see Caden and Owen, her best great grandsons. She passed from this life on Tuesday, November 22nd, 2016 in her home in Peggs, OK. Ginger was 78 years old. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Darold Hammond, grandparents, Elijah and Charity (Parally) Dunlap, and William and Mimi Wadley, her parents, Samuel and Opal Wadley, and her brother, Willis Wadley.
Those left to survive her include her sons, Ronald Hammond and wife Cheryl of Tahlequah, OK, and Don Hammond and wife Angela Elliston also of Tahlequah, OK. She lives on in her two granddaughters, Alicia Sharpe and husband Brad of Tulsa, OK, and Kirsten Hammond of Tahlequah, OK, and two great grandsons, Caden and Owen Sharpe of Tulsa, OK, along with a host of friends and loved ones.
